Default French language version of Facebook

Good or bad?

Laure - I'm pretty sure you have a view on this!

I hear from a lot of friends that are Spanish, French and German that they do not like the FB translations, that the translations used are often bizarre. In particular with Spanish it seems that the translation mixes latin american and European Spanish.

It is an interesting experiment in open source translation - but it appears that the consistency and tone from a professional translator is missing.

That said I worked for a website that had the French version translated into several languages by external translators. The translation was so bad, so full of errors, mixed styles, literal translations that were out of context etc, that out inhouse teams had to take over and spend our weekends and evenings getting it to a comprehensible level!
